NYE gathering...

Anyone up for a new way to please a crowd? Insert: BUTTER BOARDS. The new hot food trend that is literally spreading all over social media. It's a new twist on the charcuterie board, a beloved meat and cheese staple at gatherings.

Let me explain. First, you take a cutting board and smear a thick layer of butter across its surface, top with spices, herbs, seeds, or really anything you'd like to dip a cracker or bread into.

Of course I knew I had to try this out but with a twist. I found a recipe from @fooddolls using feta cheese that sounded so delicious, I decided to go with it for my first attempt.

Olive Feta Board

Here's what you'll need:

  • 8oz feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • OLIVES
    • 1 cup green
    • 1 cup kalamata
    • 1 tbsp za'atar
    • 1tbsp oregano
    • 3 tbsp evoo

marinate olives with spices in evoo and a pinch of salt. whip together feta, yogurt, and honey. then spread on board and top with olive mixture. serve with slices of fresh bread or crackers.

Oh baby, I am here for it!

The beauty of these boards is that they can be as simple or as complicated as you prefer. They can be sweet or savory, depending on your personal taste.

Crispy Baked Boursin with Spicy Honey by Cheese Gal

This was my families favorite appetizer on Christmas Day. Crispy, cheesy, and the spicy honey kick at the end...trust me, you need to make this one.

Ingredients:

Boursin Cheese (I used garlic
Herb but any flavor would work)
Flour
Panko Bread crumbs (you MUST
use Panko in order to get the
cheese crispy enough)
1 egg, beaten
Salt & Pepper
Spicy Honey
Chopped Rosemary

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 410 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set out 3 bowls: fill one with a little flour, one with Panko that's also been seasoned with salt & pepper and one with a beaten egg. Take your Boursin cheese out of the foil, and place into the flour making sure all sides are coated well. Dust off the excess, dip into the egg, and then dip into the Panko. Again- very important to cover all sides! Carefully place Boursin on the baking sheet and place into the oven.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until crispy brown. If needed, broil for a minute or so to get the outside browned! Once out of the oven, drizzle with spicy honey and garnish with chopped rosemary. Enjoy with your favorite crackers.
